On July 16, the unveiling ceremony of Shanghai Shipbuilding New Pollutant Disposal R&D Center was held in Shanghai Yisheng Shipping Warehousing Co., Ltd. Yan Wei, Vice President of Shanghai Maritime University, Xu Qi, Deputy Director of Shanghai Maritime Administration, Chen Jianrong, Deputy General Manager of COSCO SHIPPING Energy Transportation Co., Ltd., relevant leaders of Pudong Maritime Safety Bureau, COSCO SHIPPING Energy and Yisheng Shipping attended the ceremony.
In his speech, Vice President Yan Wei pointed out that the global shipping industry is undergoing profound changes in green and low-carbon transformation, and the application of new fuels not only brings environmental benefits, but also faces the new issue of new pollutant control. The establishment of the R&D center is an important measure in response to the national dual carbon strategy and the emission reduction requirements of the International Maritime Organization. He emphasized that as a multidisciplinary university featuring shipping, Shanghai Maritime University will give full play to its advantages in pollutant detection and green shipping technology research and development, and work with all parties to overcome technical bottlenecks.
Subsequently, Yan Wei, Xu Qi and Chen Jianrong jointly unveiled the center. The R&D center is jointly built by Shanghai Maritime University, Pudong Maritime Safety Administration and Yisheng Shipping, aiming to focus on the research and development of detection, disposal and prevention and control technologies for new ship pollutants, and build a collaborative innovation platform of government-industry-academia-research-application. The center will focus on breakthroughs in green treatment technologies for new pollutants such as biodiesel, methanol fuel, and ammonia fuel, as well as pollutants derived from ship exhaust treatment, and develop standardized process packages to help the low-carbon transformation of the shipping industry and the construction of environmental protection standard systems.
It is reported that the center will also cooperate with leading enterprises and scientific research institutions in the industry in the future to carry out technical research, standard formulation and talent training, and provide systematic solutions for the green transformation of the shipping industry.
Founded in 1995, Shanghai Yisheng Shipping Warehousing Co., Ltd. is the earliest third-party chemical warehousing enterprise in Shanghai, with more than 20 years of experience in liquid chemical warehousing management.
