On July 23, 2025, Wang Weiyi, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Marine Science and Engineering, and Zheng Hongxiang, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Office of Shanghai Maritime University, led a team of shipbuilding and marine engineering teachers to Shanghai Construction Engineering First Construction Group to conduct special research. Zheng Qiong, deputy secretary of the party committee and chairman of the trade union of the group, Zhu Yimin, deputy chief engineer of the construction group, chief engineer and president of the engineering research institute of the first construction group, Xu Lei, deputy chief engineer of the first construction group, executive vice president of the engineering research institute and president of the architectural design institute and other main leaders participated in the whole process.
At the symposium, Secretary Wang Weiyi comprehensively introduced the discipline construction of the college, focusing on the professional layout characteristics, discipline advantages, cutting-edge scientific research progress and innovative talent training achievements of the college. Secretary Wang emphasized that Shanghai Construction Engineering First Construction Group, as a benchmark enterprise in the domestic construction industry, has rich engineering practical experience in steel structure design and manufacturing, port construction and other aspects such as construction and marine engineering, and looks forward to all-round cooperation between the two sides in the joint construction of scientific research and innovation platforms, the construction of student practice bases, and the employment docking of graduates, so as to jointly serve the national maritime power strategy.
She pointed out that the group attaches great importance to technological innovation and talent reserves, and looks forward to establishing a long-term cooperation mechanism with the college.
Dean Zhu Yimin and Dean Xu Lei respectively gave special introductions to the innovative achievements of the Engineering Design and Research Institute and the R&D planning of the Ship Outfitting Research Institute, and clearly put forward the intention of cooperation with the college to carry out joint research in cutting-edge technology fields such as intelligent outfitting and modular construction.
Subsequently, representatives of shipbuilding and marine engineering teachers reported in detail on the characteristics of professional construction and key scientific research directions, and put forward specific suggestions on possible areas of cooperation in the future.
The exchange activity was fruitful, and the two sides reached a consensus on cooperation in many fields. In the future, the School of Marine Science and Engineering and Shanghai Construction Engineering First Construction Group will take this opportunity to actively explore new cooperation models, jointly promote technological innovation and industrial upgrading in the field of marine engineering, and contribute wisdom and strength to the realization of marine science and technology self-reliance and self-improvement.
